Ekiti State Airport- A Critical Perspective

Ekiti State Airport- A Critical Perspective As a stakeholder in the airline industry and a native of Ekiti State, I share my concerns and insights on the airport commissioned earlier, which is still under construction. Rushed Commissioning! The commissioning of the airport before its completion by the Dr. Kayode Fayemi administration raises concerns about the government's haste and potential underlying motives. Missing Link- Airline Operators. The functionality of the airport relies on airline operators willing to fly the route.  As an industry expert, I consider factors such as route profitability, technicality, and distance. Assessing Ekiti's Readiness Before attracting airline operators, we must address the following: 1. Cargo export potential- Do we have made-in-Ekiti goods (agro produce or others) to export? 2. Tourism attractions- Are our sites sufficient to draw local and international clients? 3. Educational institutions: Can we leverage Afe Babalola University and othe...

The Transactional Gospel- A Manipulative Twist on Faith by Olubunmi Oluwadare.

The Transactional Gospel- A Manipulative Twist on Faith by Olubunmi Oluwadare.  In Africa, a disturbing trend has emerged in the form of transactional gospel preaching.  This approach, devised by humans, exploits God's words to amass wealth and funds from unsuspecting individuals.  Preachers manipulate biblical teachings, implying that donations or "sowing seeds" will guarantee prosperity, healing, or divine favor.  This practice is not only unbiblical but also unethical. Women, in particular, are vulnerable to this exploitation due to their compassionate and nurturing nature.  They are often desperate for: - A good spouse for marriage - Fruits of the womb (children) - Healing from physical or emotional pain - A peaceful and harmonious marriage - Successful and prosperous children - Financial stability and prosperity for their family These genuine desires are manipulated by transactional gospel preachers, who promise quick fixes and guarantees in exchange for mo...

Nigeria's Path to Prosperity- Embracing Massive Entrepreneurship Development.

Image
Nigeria's Path to Prosperity- Embracing Massive Entrepreneurship Development. Nigeria's e conomy has long been dominated by crude oil sales, with International Oil Companies (IOCs) exploring, exporting, and selling our natural resources.  However, this unproductive economy has not yielded the desired prosperity for our nation. It's time for a paradigm shift. To transition from an unproductive to a productive economy, we must consciously embrace massive entrepreneurship development.  This requires a collective effort from individuals, leaders, and institutions to prioritize entrepreneurship, knowledge economy, technology, innovation, and creativity. Why Entrepreneurship Development? 1. Diversification- Reduces dependence on crude oil sales. 2. Job Creation- Generates employment opportunities. 3. Economic Growth- Stimulates GDP growth. 4. Innovation- Fosters creativity and problem-solving. 5. Self-Sufficiency- Encourages local production and consumption. The Role of Visionary...

Saving in a Bad Economy- A Different Perspective.

Image
Saving in a Bad Economy- A Different Perspective. When the economy takes a downturn, conventional wisdom suggests that saving money is crucial. However, in a bad economy, saving money may not be the most effective strategy.  In fact, it could be argued that saving in a bad economy is not saving at all, but rather keeping money available for daily expenses. The Illusion of Saving In a bad economy, the value of money can depreciate due to inflation or other economic factors. This means that the money you save may not be worth as much in the future.  In essence, saving money in a bad economy may be an illusion, as the purchasing power of your savings could decrease over time. Alternative Strategies. So, what can you do instead? Consider the following alternative strategies: 1.Emergency funding: Maintain easily accessible funds for essential expenses. 2.Diversification: Spread investments across assets like stocks, bonds, or precious metals to minimize risk. 3.Inflation-proofing: ...

Nigeria's Socio-Economic Challenges are Systemic, Not Spiritual

Image
Nigeria's Socio-Economic Challenges are Systemic, Not Spiritual. Nigeria's socio-economic challenges have been a subject of debate among various stakeholders.  Recently, some have attributed these challenges to spiritual forces.  However, this perspective oversimplifies the complex issues facing our nation.  In reality, Nigeria's problems stem from a combination of systemic failures, poor leadership, corruption, and a lack of investment in entrepreneurship development, knowledge, and skills. Failed Systems and Leadership. Nigeria's institutional framework and governance structure have been criticized for being ineffective, inefficient, and prone to abuse.  Successive governments have been accused of prioritizing personal interests over national development, leading to poor decision-making and policy implementation. Corruption and Accountability. Corruption has become a significant obstacle to Nigeria's progress, undermining trust in institutions and discouragin...

Nelly Agbogu, the dynamic force behind Naija Brand Chick, is revolutionizing the way Made-in-Nigeria products are showcased to the world.  Her pioneering efforts are filling a critical gap left by government agencies, including the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Investment, and its various agencies, which have struggled to effectively promote local businesses on the global stage. Senator Ademola Adeleke's Visit to Erin Ijesha Waterfall: A Missed Opportunity for Visionary Leadership.

Image
Senator Ademola Adeleke's Visit to Erin Ijesha Waterfall: A Missed Opportunity for Visionary Leadership. Senator Ademola Adeleke, the Executive Governor of Osun State, recently visited the Erin Ijesha waterfall for an on-the-spot assessment. However, this move comes too late and falls short of visionary leadership. The Erin Ijesha waterfall is a world-class tourism asset that should generate significant ROI, create job opportunities, and add substantial value to the state. Unfortunately, it has been neglected until its poor condition was recently showcased on social media by a good Samaritan. Imagine a scenario where Osun State doesn't receive monthly FAAC allocations from Abuja. Assets like Erin Ijesha waterfall could have been a vital source of income to fund state government operations. However, 90% of present state governors in Nigeria rely heavily on crude oil inflows from Abuja, rather than diversifying their revenue streams. It's time to harness Osun State...

SIMPLE SOLUTION TO NIGERIA SOCIO-ECONOMIC CHALLENGES BY OLUBUNMI OLUWADARE

Image
To Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,GCFR,  Dear Mr. President, I'd like to reiterate again that the solution to Nigeria's socio-economic challenges lies in entrepreneurial intervention.  As evident in the successes of: 1. Dangote's innovative approach to oil and gas challenges. 2. Elumelu's and Femi Otedola's efforts in tackling power challenges The solution is straightforward: 1. Compile a comprehensive list of Nigeria's socio-economic challenges. 2. Collaborate with Nigeria's and international finest entrepreneurs to address these challenges one by one. This approach is simple yet effective.  By leveraging the expertise and resources of entrepreneurs, we can drive meaningful change and propel Nigeria towards prosperity. However, I acknowledge that this solution may not be favored by political elites, capitalists, and some civil servants, as it would disrupt corruption linkages.  Nevertheless, it would foster good governance and yield favorable responses from Ni...

MAKE YOUR STATE AVAILABLE FOR RAPID DEVELOPMENT.

Image
MAKE YOUR STATE AVAILABLE FOR RAPID DEVELOPMENT. I have yet to see a Governor in any of Nigeria's 36 states who is willing to say boldly: 'If you think you can do better than us, come forward and I will step aside for one year to let you showcase your expertise.' 😎 By the time you return, you might not even recognize your state again. All the socio-economic challenges you were micro-managing would have vanished, and your vast army of unproductive civil servants and political appointees would have transformed into entrepreneurs, farmers, skilled workers, artisans, security operatives, tech experts, and factory operators. 85% of government operations would be powered by e-Governance and artificial intelligence. #aI Infrastructural development and social amenities would be driven by entrepreneurial intervention. #EI We need to demonstrate to most of you (Governor's) that good governance is not rocket science. I would have divided all your state socio-econom...

A CALL TO ACTION- UNLEASHING THE POTENTIAL OF NIGERIA'S YOUTH.

Image
A CALL TO ACTION- UNLEASHING THE POTENTIAL OF NIGERIA'S YOUTH. The lackluster response of Nigerian youths to opportunities for skills acquisition, knowledge economy, and tech training is a pressing concern that demands attention and protest.  In contrast, entertainment events draw significant enthusiasm, while vocational training, entrepreneurship development, and tech training are met with apathy.  Meanwhile, skilled workers from neighboring West African countries are filling the gap in Nigeria's construction sites, factories, and offices. This trend underscores the need for Nigerian youths to prioritize skills and entrepreneurship as potent tools against poverty, rather than resorting to cybercrime or betting.  It's time for Nigerian youths to recognize the transformative power of skills and knowledge in driving economic growth and personal prosperity.  By redirecting their energy towards vocational training, entrepreneurship development, and tech skills acquisitio...

MY PERSONAL REVIEW OF PRESIDENT TINUBU'S BROADCAST BY OLUBUNMI OLUWADARE

Image
MY PERSONAL REVIEW OF PRESIDENT TINUBU'S BROADCAST Positive aspects of the speech- 1.President Tinubu showed empathy, concern, and sympathy, acknowledging the voices of Nigerian youths, which is a fatherly approach. Mr President challenges.  He is fighting on all fronts.  - Oil cabals. - Forex cabals. - Bank cabals. - Electricity cabals. - Anti LG Autonomy cabals. May PBAT succeed. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria 🇳🇬 However, the speech had its drawbacks- 1. It seemed like a defensive report from his team, justifying their poor performance after one year in office. 2.Despite highlighting impressive figures and initiatives, it lacked a comprehensive and sustainable master plan. 3. The funds allocated for SMEs are unclear, with no testimony from beneficiaries. 4. The emphasis on substantial funds spent without tangible impact raises concerns. 5. Significant revenues collected by state and local governments without corresponding development outcomes is troubling. 6. Th...

ITS FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT.

Image
ITS FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT.  It's alarming that over 65% of Nigeria's youth population lack understanding of how the Nigerian government operates, particularly the 3 tiers of government and their roles.  This knowledge gap hinders their ability to effectively direct their protests. The truth is, the bulk of governance responsibility lies with the 36 State Governors and 774 Local Governments. The 3 arms of government share the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) monthly allocation based on percentages stipulated in the 1999 Constitution.  The allocation percentages are: - Federal Government: 52.68% - State Governments: 26.72% - Local Governments: 20.60% Understanding these roles and allocations is crucial for effective advocacy and governance. Roles of the 3 Tiers of Government. Federal Government: - Responsible for national defense and security - Foreign policy and international relations - Regulation of interstate commerce and trade - Manage...

An Open Letter to the Northern State Governors

Image
An Open Letter to the Northern State Governors To His Excellencies, the Governors of the Northern States, Good evening. I am writing to bring to your attention the pressing issues highlighted by the recent protests against bad governance in the Northern States. The demonstrations have exposed alarming rates of youth unemployment, out-of-school children, hunger, and poverty in the region, despite significant funds allocated to the North. It is imperative that we take immediate action to address these challenges with clear timelines and strategic plans. The Northern States require support from developmental partners who can advocate for a new vision for the region, focusing on: 1. Education 2. Entrepreneurship 3. Knowledge economy 4. Technology 5. Family health 6. Girl child education 7. Family planning 8. Real estate development 9. Branding 10. Terrorism/Banditry 11. Out-of-school children 12. Stimulating AFCFTA for a Productive Africa: Harnessing Entrepreneurship, Knowledge Economy, Innovation, and Technology.

Image
Stimulating AFCFTA for a Productive Africa: Harnessing Entrepreneurship, Knowledge Economy, Innovation, and Technology.  As Africa continues to grapple with economic challenges, it is imperative that we leverage the African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA) to drive growth and development.  To achieve this, we must prioritize entrepreneurship, knowledge economy, innovation, and technology as key drivers. The AFCFTA presents a unique opportunity for Africa to unlock its economic potential, but it requires a concerted effort to stimulate entrepreneurship, innovation, and technological advancement.  By doing so, we can create a productive Africa that is capable of competing globally. We call on governments, private sector, and civil society to work together to: 1.Promote entrepreneurship education and support start-ups and SMEs 2. Develop digital infrastructure and foster research and development 3. Encourage innovation challenges and support innovation incubators 4. Deve...

What's wrong with our 36 State Governors?

Image
END BAD LEADERSHIP IN NIGERIA 🇳🇬.  What's wrong with our 36 state Governors?  They have: - Access to free monthly FAAC allocations (billions of Naira) - A huge number of human resources to work with - Ability to collect various internal revenues. (IGR) - Access to grants, bonds, loans, and strategic private partnerships - Natural resources at their disposal - Various technical tools to work with - Support from NGOs - Access to successful state indigenes locally and in the diaspora as developmental partners - Access to local and international investors, and many more With this support system, some of us could transform any state into a paradise in no time. Incompetent leadership is the root cause of bad governance in Nigeria. "Good governance is not rocket science"   Olubunmi Oluwadare.
