HRM Oba Adeola Adeniyi Ajakaiye JP Oyinyosaiye Uyin III Leads High-Powered Delegation to YabaTech.
The Iyin-Ekiti Kingdom is set to partner with Yaba College of Technology, Yaba, Lagos, on various socio-economic development initiatives including technology, skills acquisition, tourism, and entrepreneurship.
His Royal Majesty, Oba Adeola Adeniyi Ajakaiye, JP, Oyinyosaiye Uyin III, the Oluyin of Iyin-Ekiti Kingdom, paid a working visit to the institution. Kabiyesi was received with fanfare, a guard of honor, and cultural performances by the YabaTech community.
The YabaTech delegation was led by Prof. Owa Afolabi, son of Iyin-Ekiti soil and Chairman of the Governing Council of Yaba College of Technology. He was joined by veteran artist *Alhaji Saidi Balogun, the Rector, Dr. (Engr.) Ibraheem Adedotun Abdul, and other top members of the institution’s academic and management team.
In Kabiyesi’s entourage were notable Iyin-Ekiti sons and daughters led by Mr. Akinyemi Fayose, serial entrepreneur per excellence; Barrister Olubusuyi Omotoba, Senior Legal Practitioner; Asiwaju Olubunmi Oluwadare, FG-BDSP, Licensed National Business Development Service Provider and Author of _I SEE MONEY IN AFRICA_; Prince Dotun Ajakaiye; Mr. Yahaya Korode; and other prominent daughters of the Kingdom.
In his welcome address, the Rector, Dr. Abdul, commended the royal reception accorded him and his team during the Iyin-Ekiti Kingdom Day 2025.
He then opened up various collaborative initiatives that can be fostered between Iyin-Ekiti Kingdom and YabaTech in areas of technical training, innovation, and community development.
Prof. Owa Afolabi used the occasion to showcase the values, heritage, capacity, socio-economic opportunities, and tourism potential of Iyin-Ekiti Kingdom. With brilliant historical insight, he presented the Kingdom as a land of enterprise and culture.
Asiwaju Olubunmi Oluwadare, FG-BDSP, highlighted what makes Iyin-Ekiti Kingdom strong and relevant in today’s Nigeria — from its brand identity and website to the ongoing Operation Secure Iyin-Ekiti Kingdom and the emerging City Centre project.
He outlined several socio-economic opportunities for YabaTech’s collaboration and announced a pro bono annual scholarship at Unipreneur eHub for all final-year students of YabaTech, starting this year.
Kabiyesi’s royal address was profound. It captured the tradition, historical depth, tourism heritage, trading and entrepreneurship capacity, and abundant opportunities in Iyin-Ekiti Kingdom. He used the platform to seek partnership and support for youth and women development in the Kingdom.
As a symbol of enterprise, Kabiyesi presented products made in Iyin-Ekiti Kingdom to the Rector and the Governing Council, with the flagship product from Ibufe Agro-Processing Factory taking center stage. He also donated copies of I SEE MONEY IN AFRICA, authored by Asiwaju Olubunmi Oluwadare, FG-BDSP, to the YabaTech Library.
In return, the institution presented Kabiyesi with a giant-size painting of His Royal Majesty, exquisitely done by a talented student of YabaTech’s School of Art, Design & Printing. The artwork was received with admiration by the royal delegation.
Sons and daughters of Iyin-Ekiti working in the institution expressed great joy at receiving Kabiyesi and his entourage.
The visit concluded with a guided tour of YabaTech’s ICT Training Centre, Museum and Art Gallery, and Technology Innovation Hub, led by the Rector and members of the Governing Council.
