YOUTHS CONFAB- A POLITICAL JAMBOREE NIGERIA CAN'T AFFORD

Dear President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,

I'm writing to express my strong reservations about the proposed National Youths Confab. Given the dire socio-economic challenges facing our nation, I believe it's a waste of time and resources.

Past gatherings have yielded numerous unimplemented recommendations, such as the Oranye report, making me skeptical about the effectiveness of another confab.

The National Youths Confab will likely be hijacked by political elites and politicians, undermining its potential impact.

Nigeria's youth deserve tangible solutions, not mere rhetoric.

Instead of National Youths Confab, I propose the following 20 youth mindset ideas to shape a more inclusive, empowered, and prosperous Nigeria:

A.Economic Empowerment

1. Entrepreneurship education and training programs

2. Access to funding and mentorship for startups

3. Job creation initiatives and vocational training

4. Encourage export-oriented businesses

5. Support for small-scale agriculture and food security

B.Education and Skills Development

1. Digital literacy and tech skills training

2. Critical thinking and problem-solving workshops

3. Soft skills development (communication, teamwork, leadership)

4. Vocational training for artisans and craftsmen

5. Education reform focusing on STEM and innovation

C.Inclusive Governance

1. Youth representation in decision-making processes

2. Lower eligibility age for political office

3. Civic education and voter registration drives

4. Anti-corruption initiatives and whistleblower protection

5. Transparency and accountability in governance

D.Social and Cultural Development

1. Cultural exchange programs and national unity initiatives

2. Arts, crafts, and design empowerment programs

3. Mental health support and resources

4. Sports development and youth engagement

5. National youth service corps reform and empowerment

Mr. President, I urge you to reconsider the National Youths Confab and focus on implementing these practical solutions. Nigeria's youth demand real change, not political jamborees.

Sincerely.

Olubunmi Oluwadare.
